Needles by Nepenthes rebuild 3/4 sleeve plaid shirt, size M (fits M/L)

$39.99

Available here is a shirt from the Needles label, one of the Nepenthes family of brands that includes Engineered Garments, South 2 West 8, the Rebuild by Needles brand and likely a number of others. Nepenthes always keeps their designs rooted in vintage and workwear territory, although they also allow for a lot of exploration and exploration in their designs. Each of their various labels have their own particular focus, where the Needles label, at least in my opinion, looks to 60s and 70s designs.

What we have here is a pretty strongly 60s-inspired design, but with a twist on the sleeves. Material is an excellent quality woven plaid, the kind of high quality knit where you can see the individual yarns woven together into the plaid design you see. There are dual buttoned chest pockets, with the twist being three quarter length sleeves. This is actually a staple design for Needles, where they have released a good number of three quarter length sleeve plaid shirts, with this one being a very good example.

As you can probably guess, these kinds of pieces are not produced in very large quantities and do not come cheap at retail. Japanese retail on these shirts is in the neighborhood of $200. This are more abroad if you could find them. Get it here in excellent shape for a fraction of that.

Size is labeled a medium and fits a bit relaxed, between a medium and a large depending on how you like the fit. I measure the chest at 22”, shoulders at 19”, length at 28.5” from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 18” from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape. Only issue to note is that the right sleeve only has one button on the cuff, while the left sleeve has two buttons. Otherwise no holes, tears, stains or visible wear. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
