For sale here is a shirt from the Original Fake line, a Japanese-based clothing line that was a collaboration between American artist Kaws, the Japanese label Nexus VII and produced by the Medicom Toy line. It ran from to 2006 to 2013 and was an interesting collaboration to be sure. You basically had Kaws’ artwork incorporated into a lot of interesting designs, always of very high quality. Like many Japanese brands then and now, production was extremely limited, with only one Original Fake dedicated shop located on a side street in Aoyama, Tokyo. Retail prices were also quite high, with these kinds of shirts retailing in the $100 range.
What you have here is a high quality black printed tee, now long out of production and not going to be seen again anytime soon. Since this is Original Fake, Kaws’ artwork is of course incorporated, here with a sort of 3-D effect logo. You’ve basically got three colors, white, red and blue, in a shadow type of effect. It’s the sort of design that doesn’t hit you over the head, but one of those that you can tell right away if you’re in the know.
Size is labeled a 1 and fits like a standard small in my opinion. I measure the chest at 18.5”, shoulders at 17”, and length at 23”. The shirt comes in used but very good shape with no holes, tears, stains or obvious signs of wear.
