Spellbound Japan tapered khaki pants, size 34

$34.99 / Sold Out

For sale here is a pair of pants from the Spellbound label, another in a long line of Japanese “American casual” brands. That is, Spellbound is strongly influenced by classic American workwear, although they tend to release their interpretations of workwear staples rather than simple re-hashes. As always with these types of labels, production runs are very small, with limited distribution even in Japan. Availability outside of Japan is even tougher, where only a few specialty shop stock them. Quality, however, is quite high. These are definitely painstakingly-made garments, done to a very high standard.

These are some quality pants, done in a chino-style silhouette. Fabric is a 97% cotton, 3% polyurethane blend, giving the material just a bit of added stretch for comfort. Color is khaki and weight is on the somewhat lighter side, probably best for fall-spring-summer wear.

This particular model has a somewhat longer rise and shorter inseam compared to a more typical chino, with a bit of a taper below the knees. It is a bit of a highwater model, featuring a zip fly, vegetable ivory buttons throughout and an adjustable waistband. Retail on these pants is about $300 outside of Japan if you can find them. What you’ve essentially got here is a nice, understated pair of pants, with a unique fit, a bit of a stretch, and that excellent craftsmanship Japanese labels are so well known for.

Size is labeled a 34 and fits true. I measure the waist at 34”, inseam at 25”, rise at 13” and opening at the bottom of the leg at 8”. The pants come in lightly used, excellent shape with no holes, tears, stains or obvious signs of wear. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
