Spellbound jeans dobby cotton work pants, size 32

$34.99

For sale here is a pair of pants from the Spellbound label, another in a long line of Japanese “American casual” brands. That is, Spellbound is strongly influenced by classic American workwear, although they tend to release their interpretations of workwear staples rather than simple re-hashes. As always with these types of labels, production runs are very small, with limited distribution even in Japan. Availability outside of Japan is even tougher, where only a handful of specialist boutiques stock them. Quality, however, is quite high. These are definitely painstakingly-made garments, done to a very high standard.

We have some characteristically high quality pants here with a unique fabric. Material here is a dobby cotton, which is essentially a half-corduroy. Corduroy is normally a ridged fabric with pronounced whales visible throughout. A dobby cotton is the same general idea, but the ridges are not quite as pronounced compared to a standard corduroy. Likewise, where cords are usually heavier in weight a dobby cotton is not quite as heavy, although they are heavier than a standard chino. Material is a 98% cotton, 2% polyurethane blend, giving the fabric just a bit of a stretch and ensuring maximum comfort.

Silhouette here is based on the classic five pocket chinos, with a zip fly, two reinforced side pockets, an extra coin pocket on the front, and a somewhat standard rear pocket pattern. Retail on these pants was about $300 outside of Japan if you can find them.

Size is labeled a 32 and fits true. I measure the waist at 32”, inseam at 26”, rise at 10” and opening at the bottom of the leg at 8” for a straight leg fit- not too baggy or too loose. The pants come in used condition, with a few minor stains on the legs. I have tried my best to photograph them (see the last pics), but they are pretty feint and difficult to capture on camera. Aside from that, no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
