Undercover by Jun Takahashi 2011aw silk/cashmere sweater, size 2 (fits S/M)

$49.99 / Sold Out

Up for sale here is a rare sweater from Undercover. Really most Undercover pieces are pretty rare, as they usually produce in very limited quantities and very rarely revisit the same designs. This sweater comes from the fall-winter 2011 season, another of the underrated Undercover collections. I think the main culprit is that their lookbooks during this run were not the greatest, which meant the clothes didn’t come across as well as they should on paper or the internet. That’s unfortunate, because Undercover almost always produces strong collections, with very high quality and attention to detail. Undercover’s graphics are rightly strongly regarded, but their tailoring is equally strong in my opinion.

This sweater is pretty unique given the high quality fabrics used. Material is a 55% silk, 45% cashmere mix, something you don’t normally come across outside of the top end luxury houses. As you can expect with this kind of fabric mix, there is an excellent hand feel to the material. It is very soft and comfortable, yet does a surprisingly good job at heat retention.

Undercover is not one of those brands to rest simply on using excellent quality fabrics. As always their tailoring is spot-on. The sweater has a v-neck and a super sharp silhouette. The design twist comes in the side and shoulder seams, where rather than a standard seam they have opted for a sort of braided detail woven into the fabric. This makes for a nice little contrast and helps to further set the piece apart.

Size is labeled a 2 and fits between a small and a medium, like a slim medium or a somewhat loose small. There is some stretch to the fabric, but unstretched I measure the chest at 18”, shoulders at approx. 16”, length at 25” from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 26” from the shoulder. The sweater comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains.

Shipping via EMS from Japan to anywhere will be $26.
