Westride Japan woven sweater, size 40 (fits S)

$34.99

For sale here is a sweater from the Westride label, one of a good number of Japanese brands that are strongly influenced by vintage Americana. Where Westride is different is that they’re primarily a motorcycle label (the name is probably a good indication), a particular subset of the “American casual” family of brands, much in the same vein as Iron Heart, Buco and Black Sign, among others. Probably the closest peer for Westride is Iron Heart actually, where both labels are known for using very heavy fabrics and producing at an extremely high level of quality. Westride have a reasonably strong following in Japan, yet for some reason they appear to have almost no international distribution at the moment.

In this case we have Westride’s interpretation of a polo collar sweater. What is hopefully first and foremost is the intricacy and quality of the knit. This is a very detailed knit consisting of a few distinct patterns. This is very much the kind of piece where the patterns are made up of individual yarns, very much visible on close inspection. Fabric is a 50% acrylic, 50% wool blend, making this is a good medium weight piece. It is not super heavy and the weave makes it breathable, so I would consider this a good fall-spring piece. Front has a vintage style Waldes zip and a somewhat long, slim body all around. Inspiration seems to come from 60s era Americana on this piece, although as noted the fit has been slimmed down some.

Size is labeled a 40, fitting a standard small well in this case. There is a bit of stretch to the fabric, but unstretched I measure the chest at 18”, shoulders at 16”, length at 27” from the base of the neck and sleeves at 25.5” from the shoulder. The sweater comes in lightly used, excellent shape with no holes, tears, stains or visible signs of wear. Made in Japan.
