For sale here is a pair of pants from Japanese label 45 rpm. 45 rpm is definitely a cult label, where they have been steadily producing some of the highest quality pieces out there, often with all kinds of little details incorporated, and specializing in indigo products. They have managed to expand beyond Japan, maintaining their own shops in France and the US, but they also do not command the same level of hype compared to some of the other prominent Japanese brands. Still, you can be sure you are getting a well designed, top quality product with just about any 45 rpm piece.

These pants come from 45 rpm’s main line, featuring one of their newer tags and placing production of these pants from within the past 10 years (it is hard to date 45 rpm exactly). Material is 100% cotton in a highly textured weave, basically a medium weight, 10oz or so denim fabric.

The quality and texture of the material are readily apparent, although it is also the detailing that really sets 45 rpm apart. Waistband features a metal button with “R” logo, and zipper pull is similarly customized with the “R”. Waistband interior has a fair amount of embroidery, another hallmark of their more recent releases. Rear waistband has a horsehide leather patch with the “R” logo again, and rear right pocket has a subtle gray-on-gray embroidered “R” logo. Rivets are used on all pockets, including hidden rivets on the rear pockets.

45 rpm is always produced in limited quantities and it can be hard to track down specific pieces once they are gone. Current iterations of pants retail at about $400 in Japan alone and are somewhere around $500 or more abroad these days. Get it here much more reasonably.

Size is labeled a 34 and fits more like a 36. I measure the waist at 36” / 92cm, inseam at 29” / 73cm, rise at 9.5” / 24cm, and leg opening at 8” / 21cm – this is a straight leg fit, neither too loose nor too slim but right down the middle in terms of fit. Pants come in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
