45 rpm indigo dyed denim shirt, made in Japan, size 5 (fits L)

$49.99

Up for sale here is a shirt from 45 rpm. 45 rpm is perhaps best known for their high quality materials, attention to detail, and of course their indigo products. Production is always in small batches, and their pieces are only available direct from their shops. This shirt is a great example of what 45 rpm is capable of, coming in an excellent medium weight indigo-dyed denim fabric. The natural indigo 45 rpm uses gives the shirt a pleasantly uneven color, one that will gradually fade according to how it is worn. That’s part of the fun of these kinds of indigo pieces, seeing how they evolve.

Aside from the dye, the usual attention to detail is here. All buttons are horn western-style snap buttons, although the top is a standard non-snap button. Right check pocket has an embroidered R logo, as well as a smaller logo on the bottom left side. Most seams use orange chain stitching, similar to the type of threading you see on jeans. Sides, cuff interiors and partial shoulder lining use a lighter indigo-dyed chambray fabric, creating a nice contrast.

This is a classic 45 rpm piece, the sort of thing they revisit most seasons but also timeless in design. Retail is typically in the neighborhood of $500, often more outside of Japan, but get it here much more reasonably.

Size is labeled a 5 and fits like a large. I measure the chest at 21” / 54cm, shoulders at 19” / 49cm, length at 28” / 73cm in front and 29” / 75cm in back, and sleeves at 24.5” / 62cm from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape. There is some very light fading of the indigo but no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
