Up for sale here is a blazer from the Agnes B label. Long well-regarded in both France and Japan, Agnes B has held a cult following most other places I believe. She’s been at it since the mid 1970s, infusing a very French look into her designs. She produces with a very consistent aesthetic, using high quality materials and attention to detail like the best designers. She’s definitely well worth looking checking out in more detail if you’re not super familiar with her.
This piece comes from the 2012ss collection. Material is a 76% cotton, 24% polyester blend, coming in a pretty light weight. Fabric has a very nice texture to it, not something you normally come across. Jacket is partially lined in the shoulders and sleeves in a striped cupro fabric, and interior seems are trimmed in a nicely contrasting blue cotton. Silhouette is based on the classic two button blazer. This is a casual iteration of the blazer, loosely structured, easy to throw on and go on your way. It’s a good embodiment of classic French design, effortlessly cool, seemingly simple and very high quality.
Details are pretty straightforward, with two button closure on the front, two side pockets, chest pocket and interior pocket. Everything is very well considered in terms of design here. It is not avant garde, but at the same time everything is in its place and the unique fabric design sets it apart from the pack. This jacket is also unique in that it looks to be a Japan exclusive – interior tag is in Japanese and it is made in Japan. As far as I can tell these pieces were not available outside of Japan.
Size is labeled a 3, fitting a standard medium well. I measure the chest at 20”, shoulders at 17”, length at 30” and sleeves at 26” from the shoulder. The jacket comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears, stains or visible signs of wear. Made in Japan.
