Aura Lee is a somewhat newer Japanese label that seems to have captured the fashion vanguard lately, along with a handful of other newer Japanese labels like A. Presse, Comoli and Maatee & Sons. With Aura Lee they aim for highly comfortable design in very unique textiles. Designs are usually kept somewhat muted and deceptively simple, where the materials and details are intended to stand out.
This is a light weight coat from Aura Lee’s spring-summer 2018 collection, called the “finx polyester hooded coat”. The Finx in the name refers to Finx cotton, a rare, extra long-staple Egyptian cotton, considered one of the top quality cottons available. This coat uses a 65% Finx cotton along with a 35% polyester blend, making for a piece that is very light in weight, with a soft feel to it. Silhouette is relaxed, with a hood, snap buttons, riri zip and drawstring on the front. It has additionally been treated with some kind of water repellency, making this a very good coat to wear in the rain in the spring and fall. Aura Lee outerwear pieces are going in the neighborhood of $1000 outside of Japan these days, and this particular model is no longer in production. Get it here at the cheapest price around.
Size is labeled a 3 and fits a medium or a large with a relaxed silhouette. I measure the chest at 25” / 65cm, shoulders at 22” / 55cm, length at 30” / 77cm, and sleeves at 19.5” / 49cm from the shoulder. Note the sleeves are slightly cropped, falling just above the wrist in this case. The coat comes in lightly used condition with a few signs of wear here and there, with no holes or tears. Made in Japan.
