For sale here is a pair of pants from the Barena label. Barena goes back to the early 1960s, where they have produced almost exclusively in Venice and have continually pursued a traditional Italian look. It’s something equally modern and heritage, where are carried by the likes of Mr. Porter on the one hand, and are distributed in Japan by the Nepenthes company (the same people responsible for Needles and Engineered Garments) on the other.
In this case we have a classic pair of woven pants. Fabric is a 48% cotton, 45% wool, 7% nylon blend in a subtle blue and black check pattern. This is a pretty light weight knit, ideal for fall-spring-summer wear. Like most Barena, the pants are somewhat traditional in design and nondescript, but at the same time have some really excellent tailoring and materials. In this case the front has two pleats along with diagonal side pockets and a zip fly. Waistband button is in genuine horn, while the rear has two pockets with flaps. It is a straight leg fit, somewhat relaxed in the top block with a slight taper toward the ankles. It is made it be casual and integrated with a wide range of clothing, but at the same time smart and able to take a beating. Retail is around $300 on these. Get them here much more reasonably.
Size is labeled a 48. I measure the waist at 33”, inseam at 30”, rise at 12.5” and opening at the bottom of the leg at 7.25”. The pants come in lightly used, excellent shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Italy.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
