Bleu de Paname is a somewhat smaller label, very inspired by vintage work wear (especially the French stuff), and as their name implies also a big proponent of indigo pieces. One of their notable points is that they produce exclusively in France, something increasingly rare these days. I would say Bleu de Paname work pretty hard to reference classic French designs and techniques, while at the same time push things forward with a somewhat more modern sensibility.
This shirt is comes in a knit cotton, a bit heavier than a standard tee but not quite sweater weight. It reminds me of classic 1960s design, where they were really fond of making these kinds of knits at the time, although there is a strong French twist here as you can see. Fabric weight and styling is perhaps closest to the classic Breton shirt, the sort of thing you see from Saint James, but perhaps with a more 60s twist.
Anyway, this is a striped shirt as you can see, given some interesting details. For one, I am not totally sure but it looks like the blues in the stripes are indigo dyed. The blue tones have a pleasantly uneven shade to them which would be indicative of indigo, and given their namesake Bleu de Paname certainly like to incorporate indigo into their designs. I suppose that is one the things you will have to wait and see as the shirt develops with wear. The other big twist is the large side entry pocket on the front. The solid color creates a nice contrast with the striped pattern and it has the practical benefit of being able to hold a lot. The shirt is finished off with solid white cuffs and neck, and an additional logo tag on the bottom left side of the shirt.
Bleu de Paname is one of those labels that manufactures in limited quantities and can be pretty hard to track down if you are outside of Paris. Their prices are actually pretty reasonable for a label that produces exclusively in France, although it is even more reasonable here.
Size is labeled a medium and fits true to size. I measure the chest at 20”, shoulders at 17”, length at 26” and sleeves at 26” from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, excellent shape with no holes, tears, stains, or obvious signs of wear. Made in France.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
