For sale here is a hooded sweat shirt from the Buzz Rickson label. Buzz Rickson is a part of the Toyo Enterprise family of brands, including other labels such as Sugar Cane, Tailor Toyo, Sun Surf and a number of others. All Toyo labels are very strongly informed by vintage design, although they each have their particular specialties. Buzz Rickson tends to go more for military reproduction, although they also have a very strong line of vintage sportswear-inspired pieces.
This sweater comes from Buzz’s Sportswear range, and is something pretty unique for the label in that they don’t usually incorporate their own designs like this. What we have is their classic pull over sweat shirt, with a random splatter-style design on it. Material is a fairly heavy brushed cotton, where you’ve got a pretty strong exterior with a soft and comfortable interior. As always with Buzz Rickson, the quality here is very strong. This is made to take a beating and will only get better with age.
Size is labeled a small and fits true in the vintage way-- that is, a somewhat boxier cut with a shorter length than a more modern fit. I measure the chest at 9.5”, shoulders at 18”, length at 24” and sleeves at 24” from the shoulder. The sweater comes in used mostly good shape. There is a light line of fading on the right sleeve (pictured), although it is not too noticeable. Otherwise no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
