For sale here is a shirt from Mister Freedom, done in collaboration as usual with Japanese label Sugar Cane. I believe this model is one of the versions of their Ranchero shirt, a part of their “viva la revolucion” collection, although this model is now completely sold out and I can’t seem to find the exact details. Still, the collection was inspired by early western wear and elevated as usual with Mister Freedom’s unique design sensibility.
Fabric here is 100% cotton coming in a pretty light weight. The fabric itself is really excellent and well worth the purchase price alone, as it appears to use some kind of discharge process combining indigo dye with bits of white (which are undyed fabric) and reds. It is a really excellent and totally unique fabric. There is already some nice development and fading with the indigo and it should continue to pleasantly fade with wear. Other details include corozo nut buttons throughout, a single piece cut away collar, side gussets, flat felled seams throughout and a white cotton canvas lining the inside of the button placket.
As you can probably guess, there is a lot going on here, but it all combines into a nice piece with functional, quality details that’s easy on the eyes. Mister Freedom never comes cheap at retail, and this shirt retailed at $360 from Mister Freedom. Get it here at a better price.
Size is labeled a small and fits true if a bit relaxed. I measure the chest at 20” / 51cm, shoulders at 17” / 43cm, length at 24” / 62cm in front and 26.5” / 68cm in back, both from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 23” / 58cm from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape. There is some fading on the neckline as well as some light fading throughout, otherwise no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
