Mister Freedom sugar cane utility chambray indigo shirt, $240rrp, size M

$54.99 Sold out

For sale here is a button down “utility chambray” model shirt from Mister Freedom, as usual in collaboration with Japanese label Sugar Cane. This shirt comes from Mister Freedom’s Naval Clothing Tailor collection, inspired by vintage naval wear. Mister Freedom is one of those interesting vintage inspired labels in that while they definitely look to the past, designs are not simple reproduction. Mister Freedom specializes in creating clothing that could have existed in the period referenced, adding in some interesting little twists and details, and upping the quality level considerably.

Design here is based on vintage naval button down shirts, although very much filtered through Mister Freedom’s aesthetic. Fabric is a 100% cotton, on the lighter weighted side of things. Neckline and interior button placket are done in a separate indigo dyed fabric. Front has a slanted chest pocket with a selvedge detail on the front, while there is also a large passport pocket hidden on the interior. Other details include selvedge side gussets, painted metal buttons, stamped neck tag and another interior tag unique to the collection.

Needless to say, the detail that goes into all of Mister Freedom’s pieces is considerable. There is a lot happening, but at the same time the details don’t overpower the piece. In the end you get some quality, timeless clothing that will only get better with wear. This shirt retailed at $240 from Mister Freedom, but it here at easily the cheapest price around.

Size is labeled a medium and fits true. I measure the chest at 20” / 50cm, shoulders at 17” / 43cm, length at 28” / 72cm and sleeves at 23.5” / 59cm from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
