Comme des Garcons Homme 2012 cotton/poly work pants, size L (34”)

$44.99

For sale here is a pair of pants from the Comme des Garcons Homme collection. CDG is perhaps best known for their avant-garde aesthetic, always applying new and creative ideas and techniques to fashion. They’ve got quite the history, really opening the door for most Japanese labels (along with Yohji Yamamoto and Issey Miyake of course, but perhaps to a lesser extent).

These pants come from the Homme collection, overseen by Junya Watanabe. For the Homme label, the emphasis is usually on simplicity, making relatively straightforward garments, always in a high quality execution, and usually with some kind of twist. CDG pants are highly underrated in my opinion, where even when the design is super crazy out there they always use some excellent tailoring and construction.

Fabric is a 50% cotton / 50% polyester blend in a solid gray. Inspiration seems to come from classic workwear, crossed with a dressier pair of slacks. It is casual enough that it can go with pretty much everything, yet at the same time elevates things nicely. Design is pretty straightforward in this case, with a straight leg fit and nothing too ostentatious. Front has a zip fly and a button on the waistband. As always with CDG, these pieces were produced in limited quantities, and could be pretty hard to track down outside of Japan. These pants retailed around $300 Japan and were around $500 abroad if you could find them. They are of course available here much more reasonably.

Size is labeled a large and fits a 34” waist well. I measure the waist at 34” / 44cm, inseam at 31” / 79cm, rise at 13” / 33” and opening at the bottom of the leg at 8.75” / 22cm. The pants come in generally good shape. There is some wear on the waistband and lines on the legs from having them cuffed. Aside from that, no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
