Up for sale here is a shirt from the Comme des Garcons Shirt line. Comme des Garcons is one of Japan’s original avant-garde labels, along with Issey Miyake and Yohji Yamamoto, and arguably the best-known. At this point they’ve really cemented their reputation and have a whole universe of sub labels including Homme, Homme Plus, Junya Watanabe, Play, Black, CDG, etc. The Shirt line has been going for quite a while now. It differentiates itself in that they concentrate primarily on shirts, as the name implies.
So here we have a graphic tee from the Shirt line. There is a very nice graphic sensibility at play here, where you have a gray base with a somewhat abstract orange print on top. Fabric is a 95% cotton / 5% polyurethane blend. Material has a bit more weight than a standard tee and the polyurethane gives it a nice bit of stretch.
This particular tee is from the Shirt line’s limited made in Lithuania range. Vintage Shirt pieces were typically made in France, where the most recent ones are made in Japan, France and China. This is an interim piece where manufacturing was still based in Europe. It is also a bit unusual to see polyurethane incorporated into a t-shirt fabric but there you go. CDG’s design sensibilities are some of the best out there, and this shirt certainly does not disappoint with its quirky and creative design.
Size is labeled a large and fits a bit slim, more like a standard medium. The fabric has some stretch but unstretched I measure the chest at 20” / 51cm, shoulders at 18” / 46cm and length at 27” / 69cm. The shirt comes in lightly used, excellent shape with no holes, tears, stains or visible signs of wear.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
