For sale here is shirt from Japanese manufacturer Shuttle Notes. The label is interesting in that they’re actually a part of a Japanese textile mill (Ueyama) – they supply fabrics to a number of other Japanese labels, but they also started their own line with Shuttle Notes fairly recently.
Although the vast majority of Shuttle Notes’ clothing is manufactured in Japan, this shirt is unique in that it is made in New York. This was a part of a limited range from Shuttle Notes, done specifically for the United Arrows stores in Japan. United Arrows is a well-known “select shop” in Japan, kind of like Beams or Ships, where they are able to order custom/unique production runs as store exclusives. You wouldn’t find this anywhere else in Japan, and these had no distribution outside of Japan (although Shuttle Notes’ main line can be found intermittently abroad).
Shirt is a very well made 62% cotton, 38% Tencel (rayon) fabric blend in black with red and white stripes. The Tencel gives the shirt a very soft hand a pleasantly uneven feel. I would expect that this is Shuttle Notes’ original fabric, put together in the US, most likely at one of the factories that produces Engineered Garments and other Nepenthes pieces. Fit is relaxed, with a flat hem and open collar detail.
Size is labeled a 15 / medium and fits relaxed. I measure the chest at 21.5” / 55cm, shoulders at 18” / 47cm, length at 29” / 74cm, and sleeves at 23.5” / 59cm from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly worn, very good shape. The only issue to note is that the top button is actually missing. It can be replaced or you can switch out one of the other buttons if you would like. Otherwise no holes, tears or stains. Made in USA.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
