Engineered Garments sweater for sale here. Engineered Garments, designed by Daiki Suzuki and under the umbrella of Japanese company Nepenthes, manufactures their products exclusively in the United States, and almost entirely in New York City. Part of their design ethos is to utilize some of the high quality materials and services available in the city and to keep their factories going. EG started before the current minor resurgence of American-made products and really continues to push things forward. One of their other main ideals is to update classic workwear pieces with a more modern approach. That’s often manifested in high quality materials, and sometimes more fashion-forward designs as well.

What we have here is a pretty classic v-neck silhouette, done in a cotton thermal. Fabric is 100% cotton but knit in a sort of waffle pattern designed to maintain heat retention. Not only does a thermal knit provide a good practical benefit, but the texture gives it a very nice look. Thermals are maybe more commonly seen as inner layers, placed under a shirt and/or a sweater, they work equally well as a mid-layer sweater, exactly what you see here. This particular model has been overdyed a nice shade of red and comes in Engineered Garments’ more recent relaxed silhouette. Design here is intentionally loose, intending to keep the wearer as comfortable as possible.

Engineered Garments is all about producing well designed, highly functional clothing and this sweater does not disappoint. You can wear it a number of different ways and it keeps you both comfortable and warm. These pieces were produced in limited quantities and are now long gone.

Size is labeled a medium and fits relaxed, where it could easily work for a large and possibly an extra-large. I measure the chest at 22” / 56cm, shoulders at 20” / 50cm, length at 25” / 64cm from the base of the neck and sleeves at 21” / 53cm from the shoulders. Note the dropped shoulders account for the shorter arm length, where the sleeves fit a standard length in this case. The sweater comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears, or stains. Made in the USA.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $26.
