For sale here is a shirt from the CP Company label. For those not in the know, CP Company is a sister label of Stone Island, both founded by designer Massimo Osti. CP Company and Stone Island share some very similar DNA, particularly in fabric dyeing and experimentation. Stone Island tends to be the sportier, more youth-oriented line, while vintage CP Company is usually more refined and tends to target a more adult audience. That said, many of the silhouettes are very similar, the quality of both labels can be some of the best out there, and the designs and fabrics are always forward-thinking. Most CP Company pieces, even those going back 20 or 30 years, easily hold up today.
This is a somewhat older CP Company piece, manufactured by Sportswear SPA, rather than the newer FGF Industry SPA manufacturing label. That is, this piece comes from the period of time when Sportswear SPA were manufacturing both Stone Island and CP Company. Quality is thus almost identical, which should be apparent enough when looking at the fabric. Material is 100% cotton, but not like any standard cotton you would find elsewhere. Fabric is one of those unique CP Company recipes, fairly light in weight but with a very different texture and feel compared to a standard cotton fabric.
Fabric has been garment dyed a solid red. Like Stone Island most of CP Company’s clothing is garment dyed, where the sewn garment is dyed rather than dyeing the fabric before production. This is a more time consuming and expensive process, but it also results in a nicely uneven color tone and more depth of color. Buttons are horn, and bottom features an additional woven CP Company tag. Like the best of both CP Company and Stone Island all of the details here are meticulously considered and everything is just right. CP Company is one of those labels that never compromises on quality. Retail was not cheap in the slightest and these designs are now long gone, but get it here at a fraction of the retail price.
Size is labeled a 5, fitting a large or an extra large depending on how you like the fit. I measure the chest at 23” / 58cm, shoulders at 20” / 50cm, and length at 31” / 79cm in front and 32” / 82cm in back. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains.
