Danton 2017ss cotton coverall jacket, size 40 (fits M)

$39.99

For sale here is a jacket from Danton, one of those long-established French heritage labels. Like many of their contemporaries including Saint James, Laboureur, Vetra and Orcival, Danton specialize in the more traditional side of French work wear. They seem to be especially steeped in workwear style jackets of various types, although they produce a full line of clothing as well. Like those other French labels, Danton also has a pretty long history. They’ve been around since the early 1930s, these days balancing more modern fits and sensibilities with classic French design.

Interestingly, this particular jacket is made in Japan. Danton enjoy a pretty high level of popularity in Japan and appear to have a pretty full range of products manufactured in Japan and aimed at the Japanese market. That’s what we have here, where we have a coverall silhouette in a 100% cotton fabric. Material is pretty light in weight, making this an ideal spring-summer jacket. It features nicely contrasting white buttons throughout, a curved Peter Pan style collar, logo patch on the left side of the chest, and interior seams covered in a white cotton trim.

Design is squarely in the timeless category, where this is the sort of piece that is very easily worn: it will always look good and will go with basically everything. This particular jacket also looks nicely broken in, where if anything the wear makes it look better in my opinion. These are pretty hard to track down outside of Japan but get it here at a fraction of the retail price.

Size is labeled a 40, corresponding to a standard medium in this case. I measure the chest at 21” / 54cm, shoulders at 18” / 45cm, length at 28.5” / 72cm from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 24.5” / 62cm from the shoulder. The jacket comes in lightly used, very good shape. There is some minor wear as noted, but no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
