Freemans Sporting Club corduroy jacket, made in USA, size M

$44.99 Sold out

For sale here is a jacket from Freemans Sporting Club. Freemans Sporting Club is somewhere between a Japanese and an American label. They have bases in New York and Tokyo, and do manufacturing in both places. Design seems to skew more toward classic Americana, although it is often filtered through the uniquely Japanese aesthetic. Their designs go for the classics: indigo and tweed jackets, selvedge denim, gauze shirts, chinos and the like.

This jacket seems to be a cross between a corduroy blazer and a coverall jacket. It buttons a bit higher than a blazer, putting it more into jacket territory in my opinion, although the elbow patches and rear vent reference the classic blazer. In either case we have a very nice piece here. Fabric is 100% cotton in a purple corduroy. This is a medium weight corduroy, heavier than a standard cotton coverall, ideal for fall and spring wear and can be layered up or down in warmer or colder weather. Interior is fully lined in a light chambray fabric in the body and a striped cotton/poly blend fabric in the sleeves. Elbows are reinforced in a matching goat suede. Construction and details are all excellent here, with all aspects of the jacket being very well considered.

Freemans Sporting Club seems to be increasingly difficult to track down these days. This particular jacket even more so, as it was released through the Urban Research select shop as noted on the tag (in Japanese) and was only available for the Japanese market in spite of its American production. Get it here at a fraction of the retail price.

Size is labeled a medium and fits true. I measure the chest at 20.5” / 52cm, shoulders at 17.5” / 46cm, length at 28” / 71cm from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 23” / 59cm from the shoulder. The jacket comes in used, generally good shape. There is some wear throughout including a small snag on the left side pocket. Otherwise no holes, tears or stains. Made in the USA.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
