Engineered Garments jacket for sale here. Engineered Garments, designed by Daiki Suzuki and under the umbrella of Japanese company Nepenthes, manufactures their products exclusively in the United States and almost entirely in New York City. Part of their design ethos is utilize some of the high quality materials and services available in the city and to keep their factories going. EG started before the current minor resurgence of American-made products and really continues to push things forward. One of their other main ideals is to update classic workwear pieces with a more modern approach. That’s often manifested in high quality materials, and sometimes more fashion-forward designs as well.
This is a very interesting, signature jacket here from EG, the sort of piece where they get their namesake. Design references the classic mountain parka, but they have flipped it on its head incorporating pockets. Many, many pockets. Depending on how you count them, I count a total of 15 pockets throughout the jacket, including on the arms, shoulders, front, back and interior. Storage space is ample here for sure. You should be able to hold pretty much all of what you need with this jacket.
Exterior fabric is a 50% cotton / 50% nylon blend in a ripstop. The nylon material makes the exterior more resilient than a standard cotton. Ripstop is essentially densely woven fabric in a grid pattern. The grid helps to stop any abrasions from tearing further, hence the name. It’s a very strong fabric, actually used by the US military. This further makes for a highly resilient piece. Interior is fully lined in a 65% polyester / 35% cotton blend. Between the exterior fabric and interior lining, I would consider this a medium weight piece, good for fall-spring wear on its own and easily layered under for winter weather.
Other details include branded snap buttons throughout, a large double zip on the front and a storm flap across the zip to keep out the elements. The jacket zips up high, also to keep out the elements. Bottom and waistband have rope pulls to adjust the size. Wrist has buttons to adjust the size. Collar area is lined in corduroy as well.
As you can hopefully see there is quite a bit going on with this jacket. It is a singular design, something you will only find from Engineered Garments. Everything is fully considered with nothing out of place. It’s an excellent, timeless design and features Engineered Garments’ newer neck tag.
Size is labeled a medium and like a lot of EG has a relaxed fit, easily working for a standard large. I measure the chest at 22” / 55cm, shoulders at 19” / 48cm, length at 32” / 81cm, and sleeves at 26” / 66cm from the shoulder. The jacket comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in USA.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $34.
