A very cool piece for sale here from the Geoffrey B Small label. Geoffrey B Small has maintained a strong cult following for quite a while now, originally starting in Boston and then moving production entirely to Italy. With Geoffrey B Small the emphasis is entirely on quality, where production is done entirely in-house in Italy, using the highest quality of materials out there. Production runs are small and retail prices are ridiculously expensive but you can be sure you are getting a top quality piece for the price.
This is one of Small’s Italian pieces, entirely handmade of some of the best quality materials out there. Silhouette follows the classic blazer pretty closely, with a “three roll two” button formation down the front. That is, there is a three button closure but the lapel break is below the top button. There is no materials tag here but I believe the exterior is cotton, while the interior is most likely a cupro. The jacket is fully lined with a rear double vent, functioning cuffs and horn buttons all around. This sounds pretty straightforward, but the twist comes in the execution. Tailoring here is some of the best I have experienced, fitting the contours of the body much better than other ready-to-wear clothing. Small also has an obsession with hand detailing – all button holes are sewn by hand, for example.
In all this is a lovely tailored piece, very difficult to come by in any condition. Retail is well over $1000 for these jackets but get it here much more reasonably.
Size is unlabeled in this case but I would say it fits a standard medium well. I measure the chest at 20” / 51cm, shoulders at 16” / 41cm, length at 28” / 70cm and sleeves at 25.5” / 65cm from the shoulder. The jacket comes in used, generally good shape. There is some wear and fading on the exterior fabric, most notably some fading on the side pockets and around the arms. Still, no holes, tears or stains. Made in Italy.
