Haversack Japan vintage style plaid button down shirt, size M (fits S)

$34.99

Up for sale here is a shirt from the Haversack label, one of a number of Japanese “American casual” style labels. Haversack often mines vintage workwear for their design inspiration, although they are equally likely to incorporate their own unique designs into the mix, with the result being something new and different, yet that also references the past. Like many of their contemporaries, Haversack uses some really excellent materials and construction, keeping the quality extremely high.

So what you have here is Haversacks’s take on the classic button down shirt. As usual they mix in some vintage workwear references, in particular with the front closure toward the bottom, collar detail and side gussets. The quality of materials and manufacturing is very high as you would expect, with other details including vegetable ivory buttons used throughout and nicely contrasting white stitching. Material here is an 86% cotton, 14% linen blend, making this an ideal warmer weather shirt.

Haversack is one of those labels that has pretty limited distribution outside of Japan, where they are only carried by a handful of stockists outside of Asia. Their pieces can be pretty hard to come by, but are well worth the effort. Shirts retail in the $250 range in Japan (and cost considerably more abroad), but get an excellent piece here at a much more reasonable price.

Size is labeled a medium and fits slim, more like a standard small in my opinion. I measure the chest at 19” / 48cm, shoulders at 17” / 43cm, and length at 26” / 67cm in the front and 28” / 71cm in the back. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears, stains or visible signs of wear. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
