Up for sale here a shirt from Japanese label Hollywood Ranch Market. Hollywood Ranch Market manages a series of labels and are themselves one of the more well-established “American casual” brands in Japan, opening in 1975. Hollywood Ranch Market tends to draw pretty strongly from vintage Americana, often incorporating some interesting Japanese detailing such as sashiko stitching and quite a bit of indigo dyeing.
Here we have a winter weight flannel shirt in a solid blue. Fabric is 100% cotton but definitely on the thicker side and ideal for the colder weather. The shirt is also partially lined on the interior in an indigo dyed chambray fabric, with the same chambray fabric lining the cuffs and used on the side gussets. The front has an embroidered message noting “life is a journey toward the guiding light”. One of my favorite details here is the buttons, which are metal and done in the style of jeans or denim jacket buttons, but have a cool customized logo.
Hollywood Ranch Market is one of a handful of well-established Japanese labels, well known and regarded in Japan but at the same time has very limited international distribution. These shirts retail at about $250 in Japan but get it here much more reasonably.
Size is labeled a 3, fitting between a small and a medium in this case, like a somewhat relaxed small or a slim medium. I measure the chest at 19.5” / 49cm, shoulders at 17” / 43cm, length at 28” / 72cm, and sleeves at 25” / 63cm from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
