Up for sale here is a blazer/jacket from the Haversack label, one of a number of Japanese “American casual” style labels. Haversack often mines vintage workwear for their design inspiration, although they are equally likely to incorporate their own unique designs into the mix, with the result being something new and different, yet that also references the past. Like many of their contemporaries, Haversack uses some really excellent materials and construction, keeping the quality extremely high.
So what you have here is Haversack’s take on the classic blazer. Silhouette follows the standard blazer reasonably closely with a three button formation. Where it really shines, however is in the fabric. Material is 100% cotton and done in a pretty light weight, but this is not your standard cotton. If you look closely at the material you can see a very intricate weave, where the individual strands of yarn encompass different shades of blue. The individual yarns making up the weave here have been dyed in indigo, which accounts for all of the subtle variations in color. Given the dye, you can also expect the fabric to continue to pleasantly fade with use.
Fabric is pretty light in weight and the jacket is only lined in the shoulder area. Interior also features strategic reinforcements on the pockets in a white cotton canvas. In all I would consider this a good warmer weather piece. Like many of these types of Japanese brands, Haversack produces in limited quantities and can be extremely difficult to track down outside of Japan.
Size is labeled a medium and fits true, although it does have a somewhat slim fit in the body making it best on a slimmer silhouette or fit. I measure the chest at 20”, shoulders at 17”, length at 29.5” in front and 28” in back, and sleeves at 24” from the shoulder. The jacket comes in lightly used, excellent shape with no holes, tears, stains or visible signs of wear. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
