For sale here is a shirt from the Japan Blue jeans label. Japan Blue is one of the lines manufactured by Rampuya, the same company that does the Momotaro label. Both labels are very strongly jeans and indigo oriented, producing exclusively in the Kojima area of Japan. Japan Blue focuses pretty strongly on jeans and denim jackets, but the same high quality production standards are still very much there, as are the really detailed and unique fabrics. They’ve recently branched out a bit more, working on button down shirts, tees and sweaters as well.
This shirt is definitely unique on the fabric department. The material is a really nice knit indigo jacquard fabric. That is, the intricate pattern you see is actually a part of the weave using alternating dark and light shades of indigo blue. The results are really beautiful and pretty singular, in that really no one else is producing these kinds of weaves.
The main silhouette here is your classic button down, done here with a dual chest pocket and black cat’s eye buttons with nicely contrasting blue thread. These pieces are of course produced in very limited quantities, although this model still has some limited availability in Japan (retail is about $240 in Japan, and this would of course cost you more abroad).
Size is labeled a small and fits somewhat relaxed. I measure the chest at 20” / 50cm, shoulders at 17” / 43cm, length at 29” / 73cm from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 24” / 60cm from the shoulder. The shirt comes lightly used, excellent shape with no holes, tears, stains or obvious signs of wear at all. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
