Up for sale here is a pair of pants from Junya Watanabe’s label, done as always as a part of the Comme des Garcons family. As you can see from the tag, this comes from 2019. I would guess the fall-winter collection, but I’m not 100% sure.
The Junya Watanabe label is perhaps best known for their reinterpretation of classic menswear, most often workwear, usually filtered through a patchwork aesthetic. Designs are often avant-garde and forward-thinking, as is typical with the Comme des Garcons family of labels, although there is also a very strong emphasis on tailoring as well.
These pants are an interesting reinterpretation of the classic sweat pant. Design is somewhere between a regular pair of sweats and a pants/chino silhouette. Fabric is fully 100% cotton, although there are several different fabrics used here. The main body is a black sweat pant style material in a medium weight. The waistband has a black corduroy fabric and a cotton herringbone waistband lining. Cuffs are in a riffed cotton, while there is a waistband button and a zip fly. Rear pockets are sewn on externally with the same corduroy fabric on the flaps.
Like all of the CDG family of brands, Junya Watanabe pieces never come cheap at retail and can be hard to track down. These pants are now completely sold out, although you can get them here at a fraction of the retail.
Size is labeled a small. I measure the waist at 32” / 82cm. I measure the inseam at 25” / 63cm, rise at 11” / 28cm and leg opening at 5” / 13cm. The pants come in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
