For sale here is a woven cotton shirt from the Kapital label, one of the top Japanese brands going at the moment. Kapital are unique in that they have a very strong vintage Americana influence, much like a good number of other Japanese labels, but use those vintage aesthetics as a jumping off point to do their own thing and make their own unique designs. Along with Visvim they’re probably one of the top labels going, particularly in terms of their international distribution.
In this case we have Kapital’s take on the classic long sleeved tee, filtered as usual through their own very unique aesthetic. The fabric and the weaving are both the main draws here in my opinion. This is a 100% cotton material given a very nice, pleasantly uneven knit throughout. You don’t encounter this kind of texture from most labels, where this is very likely the result of the handiwork from a vintage shuttle loom. Kapital’s strategic base located in Kojima (and the fact that they have their own dedicated mill) means they are able to produce some of the best fabrics out there.
Material aside, the shirt is given a mostly standard cut, a bit slim in the arms, making this a good shirt for layering on top of or worn on its own. Neckline has a v-neck detail, with a label tag on the interior along with care instructions. While Kapital does have more international distribution than many other Japanese labels, they also produce a very large range of clothing, the vast majority of which is unavailable outside of Japan. Get it here at a fraction of the retail price.
Size is unlabeled as far as I can tell, but this fits a Kapital size 3 well, or a standard medium. I measure the chest at 21”, shoulders at 19”, length at 27” from the base of the neck and sleeves at 28” from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
