A super rare and much sought-after piece here from the Kapital label, arguably one of the top brands going at the moment. Kapital comes from a strong foundation of vintage manufacturing and production, where all of their pieces are always built extremely well in the classic style. Where they differentiate themselves, however, is in their adoption of more unique design elements. With the combination of old school production and somewhat more modern design, you get something very original.
In this case we have their “two tone skeleton crewneck” sweater. It is a classic long sleeved sweater silhouette but very much tweaked in Kapital’s aesthetic. Fit is relaxed in the body with a tapering of the arms toward the cuffs. Front is navy blue while the rear is purple, creating a nice contrast. Front has a small embroidered American flag motif while the rear has a skeleton print silkscreened on. The whole thing has been given a vintage treatment, making it look nicely worn and broken in.
This is one of Kapital’s iconic pieces. They have released several versions of this sweater although they always sell out very quickly and can be difficult to track down. Retail was in the neighborhood of $300 in Japan and would have cost you even more abroad if you could find it. Get it here more reasonably.
Size is labeled F/free size and fits most sizes, going for a relaxed look. I measure the chest at 25” / 65cm, shoulders at 23” / 59cm, length at 26” / 66cm, and sleeves at 21.5” / 54cm from the shoulder. Note the dropped shoulder accounts for the shorter arm measure. The sweater comes in lightly used, very good shape. The interior “Redux” stamped logo has unfortunately faded, although if you look closely you can still see it. Otherwise no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
