Kazuyuki Kumagai Attachment wrinkle processed zip up jacket, size 2 (M)

$59.99

Jacket by Kazuyuki Kumagai Attachment for sale here. The Kazuyuki Kumagai line, not to be confused with the Attachment label itself, is the collection line for Attachment. It’s basically their higher-end products, the stuff the designer puts his name on, what you see in the lookbooks and that sort of thing. The Kazuyuki Kumagai label differentiates itself with an emphasis on technical detailing, both in the selection of textiles and in the fit. Materials are often high quality knits, and detailing is highly articulated.

This jacket is no exception and a really good example of what the KKA label can do. The shape seems to draw from the track jacket, although it has been tweaked quite a bit. Let’s start with the fabric: material is labeled a 80% polyester, 10% cotton, 10% linen blend. It has been wrinkle processed where the wrinkles you see are intentional and a part of the material. Fabric itself is a medium weight, not a super light summer fabric and not a heavy winter fabric either but right in the middle and suitable for wear outside of the extreme heat and cold. The fabric is very interesting and probably the main selling point of the jacket, although Kazuyuki Kumagai have elevated it further with the use of Swiss Riri zippers throughout. Riris are on the high end of zipper hardware and have a different and more satisfying feel compared to a standard zip. A large zip is added down the front, along with zips on the side pockets and cuffs.

The Kazuyuki Kumagai label has always been tough to track down, produced with very limited availability. I am actually not even sure if they are still producing the label, as Kumagai seems to have pivoted toward Attachment on the lower end and his new, highly artisanal label Calmlence on the very high end. KKA pieces have likewise never been cheap, with jackets retailing in the $500 range in Japan alone. Get it here much more reasonably.

Size is labeled a 2, fitting a standard medium well. I measure the chest at 21” / 53cm, shoulders at 17.5” / 45cm, length at 26.5” / 68cm from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 26.5” / 68cm from the shoulder. The jacket comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
