Up for sale here is a t-shirt from the Or Slow label, one of the perhaps smaller “American casual” labels going in Japan, but one that has managed to attract a pretty strong cult following. Or Slow mainly draws their inspiration from vintage military wear, where they often re-work and reinterpret classic military pieces, adding their own unique stamp and aesthetic.
The main detail in this case is the fabric, incorporating several different materials, all of which are indigo dyed in various shades of blue. The indigo has a pleasantly uneven look and feel throughout, which is something that will likely become more pronounced as it ages. This is one of the appeals of these kinds of indigo pieces: the aging is completely unique to the wearer. Material is 100% cotton and a sort of light denim chambray, making this an ideal piece for the warmer weather. Fit is relaxed, making it very comfortable and easy to wear.
Size is labeled a 2 and fits oversized, like a large or even an XL depending on how you like it. I measure the chest at 22” / 56cm, shoulders at 22” / 56cm and length at 27” / 68cm. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears, stains or visible fading of the indigo beyond its original condition. Made in Japan.
