Up for sale here is a piece from the Or Slow label, one of the perhaps smaller “American casual” labels going in Japan, but one that has managed to attract a pretty strong cult following. Or Slow mainly draws their inspiration from vintage military wear, where they often re-work and reinterpret classic military pieces, adding their own unique stamp and aesthetic.
In this case we have a reinterpretation of the classic denim button down shirt. This is a standard denim weight, around 10oz or so I would guess, in 100% cotton. The denim has been given a vintage treatment, made to look nicely aged and worn in. The main twist comes in the absence of a collar – this is a collarless shirt and ideal for layering over another shirt. Details include metal buttons used throughout, double buttoned chest pockets and side gussets. This is one of those very well-imagined pieces that draws from the past but is very much its own thing, making for an ideal layering piece (or outer in the warmer weather).
Size is labeled a 2 and fits a standard medium. I measure the chest at 20” / 52cm, shoulders at 17” / 43cm, length at 27” / 68cm and sleeves at 23” / 59cm from the shoulder. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape. Only issue to note is the button on the left cuff is missing. Otherwise no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
