Up for sale here is another nice, classic piece from the Real McCoys label. The Real McCoys are one of the best, if not the best, repro labels out there. Buzz Rickson maybe runs a somewhat close #2, but no one else is able to get the combination of quality, detailing and of course fit that the Real McCoys do. Quality is often much better than the originals, although the designs are timeless.
The Real McCoys run a number of sub-labels, all with different focuses: Eight Hour Union for work wear, Double Diamond for pre-war vintage pieces, Ballpark for sportswear and Joe McCoy in many cases for western-style clothing. This piece comes from the McCoy’s main line, which usually references vintage military wear.
What we have here is a vintage style button down military work shirt. As usual with Real McCoys, quality is in no way compromised. Material is a substantial knit cotton HBT (herringbone twill). HBT was a classic military fabric, well regarded for its strength and resiliency, combined with a high level of comfort. The fabric is indeed highly resilient and built very tough, ideal for work and military applications. Details include high quality double and triple needle construction throughout, selvedge side gussets, chain stitch runoff, tonal white buttons, stitched reinforcements on the pockets in a nicely contrasting blue, and a really nice dark blue overdye to the fabric. Retail in Japan on these shirts is about $250. Get it here much more reasonably.
Size is labeled a 15, equivalent to a medium. I measure the chest at 20” / 50cm, shoulders at 17” / 43cm, and length at 28” / 71cm from the base of the neck. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
