Sassafras Japan boiled wool winter weight pants, size M (fits 32”)

$49.99

Up for sale here is a pair of pants from Japanese label Sassafras. Active since 2004, Sassafras fills a pretty unique niche in that they design clothes ostensibly for gardening. That is, they make very high quality, functional daily wear inspired by vintage outdoor clothing. They are one of those labels that has developed a pretty strong cult following in Japan, but has very little publicity and next to no distribution outside of Japan.

In this case we have a winter weight pair of pants in boiled wool. Fabric is a very interesting 70% wool, 15% polyester, 10% acrylic, 5% nylon blend. This gives the material a very soft feel, in no way itchy at all, yet it remains insulating. It’s a fairly thick fabric and ideal for cold weather wear. If you are in a cold climate these are a great pair of pants for you.

Details include a metal button fly including a branded waistband button, cotton-lined waistband, label tag on the rear belt loop and asymmetrical rear pockets. This is a straight leg fit, right in the middle of slim and loose, maybe just a hair slim, but the sort of thing that is easily integrated into a wide range of fits.

Size is labeled a medium and fits a 32 inch waist well. I measure the waist at 32”, inseam at 32” (unaltered), rise at 11.5” and leg opening at 8”. The pants come in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
