For sale here is a shirt from the South 2 West 8 label, part of the family of labels run by the Nepenthes company, the same people that produce Engineered Garments and Needles, among other labels. Each of these brands has their own particular focus, and South 2 West 8 seems mainly oriented around outdoors wear, although they can sometimes do some pretty radical reinterpretations.
In this case we have a striped t-shirt. This is the sort of piece you can wear on your outdoor excursions in the warmer months. It will keep you covered, help you to avoid overheating given that it is 100% cotton, and has some additional functionality with the chest pocket. Design is pretty timeless here, where it looks to me like S2W8 is mining a 1970s influence in this case. The shirt is also made in Canada, which maybe adds to its outdoors wear and heritage credibility.
S2W8 is perhaps one of the smaller Nepenthes labels, nowhere near as big as Engineered Garments, but they still produce some really nice pieces. These pieces were produced in limited quantities and are no longer available. Retail was about $100 in Japan and would have cost more abroad. Get it here much more reasonably.
Size is labeled a medium and fits true if a bit relaxed. I measure the chest at 21.5” / 55cm, shoulders at 18” / 46cm, and length at 25.5” / 64cm. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Canada.
