Undercover undercoverism 2013aw hagire layered pants, size 3 (fits 32)

$49.99

Up for sale here is a pair of pants from Undercover’s fall-winter 2013 collection. This is another one of the Undercover collections that went pretty highly underrated in my opinion. It’s likely because their look books really don’t do the label justice. Most seasons, this one included, have some pretty strong pieces. Fall-winter 2013 was all about boiled wools and disparate buttons, among their other more obvious graphic prints. It’s worth seeking out.

These pants are done in Undercover’s “hagire” style. Hagire is a Japanese word meaning a scrap of cloth. As you can see in the pics, the bottom portion is made of a number of overlapping strips of cloth. Undercover also released pants done entirely in this construction method (which are very popular in Japan), although this pair doesn’t go quite that far. Still, the design is totally unique to Undercover and definitely not something you come across every day.

Details here include a button fly with disparately-colored buttons, coin pocket, rear button pocket (also with a different button), and tapered fit. Material is a winter weight green cotton with an uneven dye. They’re not quite moleskin, but something similar I suppose. The pants have a longer rise than is typical for Undercover, making the pants hit around the ankles or so, depending on your height and how you wear them. Length has not been altered.

Then there is the size. Undercover during this era often inexplicably cut their pants small in the waist, with this size 3 equivalent to a 32” waist. It’s quite rare to find these in this size. Japanese retail was around $400-$450, meaning that these would have cost you around $600-$700 outside of Japan if you could find them. They are now totally sold out and the look has not been repeated since.

I measure the waist at 32” / 84cm. Inseam is 25” / 64cm, rise is 11.5” / 29cm and opening at the bottom of the leg is 6.5” / 16.5. The pants fit somewhat slim and taper down as noted. They come in used but very good condition. There is a small stain near the front left pocket and the bottom two buttons on the fly are branded Ralph Lauren buttons (the originals have been replaced). These are completely hidden when the pants are buttoned and should not be a problem. Otherwise no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
