Up for sale here is an indigo-dyed shirt from 45 rpm. This shirt has all of the 45 rpm bells and whistles: super high quality material, their unbeatable indigo dye, and the usual attention to detail you would expect from the label.
The shirt comes in a standard weight cotton, maybe a hair heavier than a standard button down. Fabric has been indigo discharge dyed, where there is a sort of paisley pattern throughout. The blue is 45 rpm’s quality indigo, while the white is undyed fabric. The execution is very cool, and like any quality indigo dye the blues are pleasantly uneven and will develop and fade with wear. Details include horn buttons throughout, indigo dyed and embroidered neck tag, and signature “R” logo embroidered on the chest pocket.
45 rpm products never come cheap at retail. They’re produced in very small batches with a high level of workmanship involved. You can only find them at their own shops, of which there are just a handful outside of Japan. Retail is in the $500 range but get it here much more reasonably.
Size is labeled a 3 and fits like a standard medium well. I measure the chest at 20” / 51cm, shoulders at 18” / 45cm, length at 28” / 71cm from the base of the neck and sleeves at 23” / 59cm. The shirt comes in lightly used, good shape. There is some fading of the indigo throughout (which is to be expected), along with some visible fading on the neckline. Otherwise no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
