Agnes B Homme cashmere blend wool coat, made in France, size 3 (L)

$54.99

Up for sale here is an excellent piece from the Agnes B label. Long well-regarded in both France and Japan, Agnes B has held a cult following most other places I believe. She’s been at it since the mid 1970s, infusing a very French look into her designs. She produces with a very consistent aesthetic, using high quality materials and attention to detail like the best designers. She’s definitely well worth looking checking out in more detail if you’re not super familiar with her.

This is one of Agnes B’s many iterations of the classic wool overcoat. This is a vintage Agnes B piece, most likely from the late 1990s or early 2000s, back when the label manufactured entirely in France. These earlier pieces have become collector’s items, sought after for their extremely high quality materials and understated, timeless design. Fabric here is 50% wool / 25% cashmere / 25% lambs wool. The lambs wool denotes a higher grade of sheep wool, taken from the first shearing of a lamb with a shorter staple fiber but at the same time considered to be of higher quality. In essence, the fabric on this coat is a higher-end version of the more standard wool and cotton coats you tend to see. Material definitely has a soft feel and is naturally pretty insulating.

The coat is also fully lined in a 55% cotton / 45% viscose rayon lining. Silhouette is understated in the classic French style, with two fairly large side pockets, one chest pocket, and no rear vents. Rather than superfluous detailing, the emphasis here is squarely on fit and fabric. Fit aims for a classic look, relaxed in execution and very reminiscent of what Yohji Yamamoto and Comme des Garcons like to do with their black woolen outerwear.

Size is labeled a 3 and fits like a relaxed large. I measure the chest at 24” / 61cm, shoulders at 19” / 49cm, length at 32” / 82cm from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 26” / 66cm from the shoulder. The jacket comes in used but good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Only issue to note is that the top button is missing. This is not especially visible nor does it detract from the look, but noted in the interest of full disclosure. Made in France.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $36.
