For sale here is a pair of pants from the Bru Na Boinne label operating out of Japan. Bru Na Boinne is another one of those smaller Japanese labels with limited international distribution. They specialize in high quality, vintage inspired design, differentiating themselves with a relaxed aesthetic and often incorporating a healthy dose of indigo.
As is often the case with Bru na Boinne, we have an interesting and pretty unique take on a classic wardrobe staple here. This is a classic chino silhouette given a few interesting tweaks. Fabric is a 95% cotton, 5% polyurethane blend, giving the material a bit of a stretch but also a bit of a different hand feel compared to 100% cotton pants. It something closer to what Stone Island or CP Company does actually, reinforced by the way the pants have been garment dyed.
Garment dyeing is when a garment is fully constructed and then dyed, rather than dyeing the fabric first and then making the clothing. It is actually a more time consuming and expensive process, but one that also produces a much greater depth of color that is intentionally a bit uneven and with some nice irregularity to it. These pants have similarly been garment dyed a pleasantly uneven shade of gray.
Other details include metal button closure on the fly, complimentary gray pockets, and a unique rear seat construction. Fit is somewhat tapered with a larger pleated top block that slims down toward the ankles. Current iterations of pants by Bru na Boinne retail at about $250 to $300 in Japan but get it here much more reasonably.
Size is labeled a 2, fitting a 33” waist. I measure the waist at 33” / 86cm, inseam at 29” / 74cm, rise at 11” / 29cm and leg opening at 7” / 18cm. The pants come in lightly used, generally good shape. Just one issue to note: there is a small stain on the rear right side (pictured). Otherwise no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
