Up for sale here is a jacket from the Burgus Plus label, the house label of the Hinoya shop out of Ueno, Tokyo. Hinoya is well known as being one of the go-to places for denim in Tokyo. They stock many of the heavy hitters, and Burgus Plus themselves have collaborated with some of the big names like Warehouse and Oni among others. The Burgus Plus line skews pretty strongly to the denim and workwear side of things, although they do produce a nice full range of clothing. Their pieces are actually pretty substantial and very well-made, easily rivaling the big names out there. Burgus is one of my favorite labels going right now, still largely under the radar, but easily putting out some top quality stuff.
This is an iteration of the classic shop coat, done here in a substantial yet also nicely breathable 79% cotton, 21% linen blend. The fabric is a high quality weave, the sort of highly detailed knit where you can see the individual threads woven together on close inspection. It also has a very nice texture to it, the sort of fabric you would see coming from a vintage shuttle loom.
Being Burgus, there are also some high quality details incorporated. The jacket is partially lined in a cotton/linen blend in the shoulder area and all pockets are reinforced on the interior. Interior selvedge line is also visible, indicative of a high quality woven product. All seams use substantial chain stitching and horn buttons are used throughout. Like all Burgus Plus pieces this is built tough and made to last. This model of jacket is no longer in production, and was very rare even when released. Get it here while you can at a very reasonable price.
Size is labeled a large and fits true. I measure the chest at 21.5” / 54cm, shoulders at 18.5” / 47cm, length at 32.5” / 82cm and sleeves at 25” / 63cm. The jacket comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
