Up for sale here is a pair of pants from Neighborhood, one of the longer-running Japanese streetwear labels. Neighborhood is the parent label of the somewhat more cultish Wtaps, although both hold very high standards for quality and production. To me, neighborhood tends to gravitate more toward vintage workwear and biker gear for inspiration, where Wtaps is often more military or even ivy league sometimes.
What we have here is Neighborhood’s take on the classic work pants, done here in a characteristically heavy cotton fabric and overdyed a pleasantly uneven shade of brown. I believe these pants are denim, weighing somewhere around 12 to 14 ounces. This is a straight leg fit, somewhat slim with a bit lower rise than usual. The usual Neighborhood attention to detail is here as well, with a branded waistband button, branded rivets including hidden rear rivets, zip fly with label tape as a reinforcement, label stamped on the interior pocket, a custom rear leather patch and tonal stitching on the rear pockets. As noted on the tag these pants come from the fall-winter 2013 collection.
Neighborhood is one of those labels with a long history, a highly devoted fan base, and limited international distribution. They have been highly influential in the Japanese fashion and streetwear scene for quite a while now, with good reason, and are well worth checking out. Retail prices are often very expensive but their quality and detailing are second to none. This piece is now completely sold out but get it here at the cheapest price around.
Size is labeled a medium. I measure the waist at 34” / 86cm, although given the lower rise I think this works better for a standard 32 inch waist. Inseam is 28” / 71cm, rise is 9.5” / 25cm and leg opening is 7.5” / 19cm. The pants come in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
