O Project by Jan Jan Van Essche cotton/wool saurel pants, size M

$39.99 Sold out

For sale here is a pair of pants from the O Project label. O Project, founded in 2010, is designed by Jan Jan Van Essche, a Belgian designer also with his own eponymous label that is very well regarded. O Project keeps many of the same ethos of the Jan Jan Van Essche main line but is geared mainly toward the Japanese market and opts for Japanese production rather than European.

With Jan Jan Van Essche and O Project the emphasis is always on developing interesting textiles and incorporating a relaxed aesthetic. His designs are meant to be comfortable and non-restrictive. That is often manifested in more Asian-leaning silhouettes, at least in my opinion, which also makes the O Project a natural fit for Japanese consumers.

These pants come in a 70% cotton, 30% wool blend. They are fairly thick and ideal for the colder weather. Fabric has a really unique texture to it, another characteristic of Van Essche and O Project. You won’t find textiles quite like this anywhere else. There are belt loops as well as an interior drawstring, allowing you to adjust the waist to your liking and working for a pretty wide range of sizes as well. Also features a button fly, drop crotch saurel design and a bit of a taper toward the ankles.

As far as I am aware the O Project label is sold exclusively in Japan, making it very difficult to come across elsewhere. If you are a fan of Van Essche or similarly minded labels it is well worth checking out in more detail. As always with these kinds of brands retail prices are pretty expensive, but get it here at the cheapest price around.

Size is labeled a medium and fits true. At its widest (as pictured) I measure the waist at 34” / 88cm, inseam at 23” / 58cm, rise at 16.5” / 44cm and leg opening at 7.5” / 19cm. Note that with the saurel silhouette the inseam looks fairly short, but you can add at least 4 to 5 inches to the inseam due to the construction. The pants come in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
