For sale here is a henley neck shirt from the Pherrows label. Pherrows is a Japanese “American casual” manufacturer, strongly inspired by vintage Americana, especially work and military wear from the 1950s and 60s. There are many such labels operating in Japan at the moment, and Pherrows is no exception in their emphasis on quality materials and detailing. They also have a longer history than many of their contemporaries, starting back in 1990.
Pherrows’ iteration of the henley comes in a heavy weight black cotton with nicely contrasting white chain stitching on the sides and arms, and a gray button placket and neckline. Design references 1950s era under shirts, although it is elevated quite a bit here with the fabric to a very hard-wearing piece that is made to take a beating and age well over time. Cut is supposed to be slim and close to the body, but with their XL it fits more like a standard medium in other brands.
Pherrows is one of those labels that caters to a small but devoted crowd in Japan and has very limited international distribution. Their clothing is pretty expensive at retail if you can find it, but get it here at the cheapest price around.
Size is labeled an XL, and as noted it fits more like a standard medium. I measure the chest at 20” / 51cm, shoulders at 17” / 46cm and length at 25.5” / 64cm. The shirt comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $24.
