For sale here is a classic piece of Americana, unfortunately one of those that no longer seems to be in production. This is an indigo dyed pair of pants from the Pointer label, a heritage label that seems to have closed its doors fairly recently. From what I understand, Pointer denim pieces like this were manufactured using White Oak Denim, one of the last remaining denim mills in the US that also sadly closed its doors. While Pointer pieces were in production they were 100% made in the US.
That’s not to say that it’s all bad. For one, the factory that manufactured Pointer, LC King, started up its own label and manufactures some very similar products (still exclusively in the US as far as I know). The Pointer label also had a few high profile collaborations, for example with Junya Watanabe, which helped to raise awareness of the brand.
All that aside, the Pointer label has always been about quality, long-lasting work wear. That’s what we have here, where the denim carpenter pant is pretty synonymous with blue collar labor in parts of the US. Design is simple but effective: two large front pockets, two rear pockets, a hammer loop and a side pocket, as well as a zip fly. Seams are reinforced all around using double and triple needle stitching, waistband button is branded and logo tag is on the front change pocket and rear right pocket. Denim is fairly light weight, probably around 10oz or so I think, ideal for year round wear. There is already some pretty nice fading to the indigo as you can see, and the pants should continue to pleasantly fade with wear.
While these pants were not impossible to track down when they were in full production, they weren’t especially easy to get even in the US. For those of us outside of the US, tracking them down was even more difficult. Now these pieces are probably going to be collector’s items if they aren’t already. Size is labeled a 34 and fits true with a straight leg fit. I measure the waist at 34” / 88cm, inseam at 32” / 82cm, rise at 12.5” / 32” and leg opening at 9.5” / 23cm. The pants come in lightly used, very good shape. There is some fading to the indigo as you can see, which if anything makes the pants look cooler, but otherwise no holes, tears or stains. Made in the USA.
