Sage de Cret garment dyed parka jacket, made in Japan, size M

$39.99

Up for sale here is a jacket from Japanese label Sage de Cret. Sage de Cret have been around since 2001, although they are one of those more cultish labels that produces in small quantities and has limited international distribution. With Sage de Cret the emphasis is mainly on reimagining classic military wear. Think of a lot of khakis, military greens and military silhouettes and you get the general idea, although these are not straight reproductions. Quality is stepped up considerably, where they are fond of garment dyeing their clothing – that is, dyeing the sewn garment rather than the fabric before sewing the clothing together. Garment dyeing is a more time consuming and expensive process, but the depth of color and variation make the results a lot more interesting. Sage de Cret also like to play with the silhouettes of military styles, going for slimmed down and sometimes more relaxed fits.

This jacket is Sage de Cret’s take on the classic hooded parka. It has been garment dyed a pleasantly uneven shade of blue. Fabric is a 44% cotton, 39% polyester, 17% nylon blend. It is a pretty interesting blend of material giving the fabric a bit more heft and resiliency compared to a standard cotton, not unlike something Stone Island would do actually. The jacket is unlined and should work well for fall-spring-summer wear, and you can easily layer under it in the colder months. Front zips pretty high, with drawstrings on the top and bottom of the jacket to adjust the fit, adjustable snap buttons on the cuffs, a zipped pocket on the left sleeve, and a unique front pocket formation. There are standard side pockets, and as you can see there are flaps over these pockets. If you open up the flaps there are actually additional pockets, allowing for a fair amount of storage space.

If you are looking for something that is a bit subtle in its appeal yet still interesting this is a good piece for you. Retail was about $300 in Japan and more abroad if you could find it. Get it here at the cheapest price around.

Size is labeled a medium and fits true. I measure the chest at 22” / 56cm, shoulders at 18.5” / 47cm, length at 26” / 77cm from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 24” / 60cm from the shoulder. The jacket comes in lightly used, excellent shape with no holes, tears, stains or visible signs of wear. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
