For sale here is a light weight jacket from the South 2 West 8 label, part of the family of labels run by the Nepenthes company, the same people that produce Engineered Garments and Needles, among other labels. Each of these brands has their own particular focus, and South 2 West 8 seems mainly oriented around outdoors wear, although they can sometimes do some pretty radical reinterpretations.
In this case we have a summer weight cotton jacket. Silhouette here is loosely based on the classic coverall, given a relaxed fit and a somewhat cropped length. Probably the main draw here is the fabric. While light in weight and ideal for the warmer weather there is a pleasantly uneven hand to the material with lots of texture, indicative of low-tension shuttle loomed material. The jacket is made in India which really punches above its weight in high quality, labor-intensive fabrication.
Details include two side pockets, a chest pocket, tonal buttons throughout and woven neck label. This is a highly practical piece, timeless in design that will go with pretty much everything. Get it here at a fraction of the retail price.
Size is labeled a small and fits relaxed. I measure the chest at 24” / 60cm, shoulders = 20” / 50cm, length at 25.5” / 65cm and sleeves at 22.5” / 57cm (the dropped shoulders make this a standard sleeve length). The jacket comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in India.
