Spellbound jeans 48-631X typewriter cloth half coat, size 2 (fits M/L)

$34.99

For sale here is a half coat from the Spellbound label, another in a long line of Japanese “American casual” labels. Spellbound is strongly influenced by classic American workwear, although they tend to release their interpretations of workwear staples rather than simple re-hashes. As always with these types of labels, production runs are very small, with limited distribution even in Japan. Availability outside of Japan is even tougher, where only a handful of specialists stock them. Quality, however, is quite high. Production is in Kojima city in Japan, the heart of Japan’s denim industry. In fact, Spellbound’s parent company, Domingo, is one of the oldest workwear manufacturers in Japan. These are definitely painstakingly-made garments, done to a very high standard.

In this case we a very high quality light weight jacket, done in the vintage style with three button closure in a very nice 100% cotton “typewriter” cloth. Spellbound describes the fabric as a long-fiber, fine cotton thread with a somewhat wrinkled and worn-in look due to the washing and processing of the fabric. It is intended to be casual and easy to wear, cut in a relaxed fit to allow easy layering when necessary. The idea is to create a garment that can be worn most of the year, accommodating a wide range of styles and fits. It’s a timeless piece, well made and sure to last.

Size is labeled a 2, normally a medium but with a relaxed fit as noted. I measure the chest at 23” / 58cm, shoulders at 18” / 47cm, length at 36” / 92cm from the base of the neck, and sleeves at 25” / 63cm from the shoulder. The jacket comes in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears, stains, tears or signs of wear. Made in Japan.

Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
