For sale here is a pair of pants from the Tuki label out of Okayama, Japan. Tuki is one of those cult labels that has a strong domestic following in Japan yet remains largely unknown abroad. They are based in Okayama, the center for textile development and production in Japan, and in fact are connected with a textile research parent company (Harada Fukushoku Kenkyusho / 原田服飾研究所).
Tuki has been active since 2004, focusing primarily on pants in cotton. They often incorporate a unisex design aesthetic, favoring a looser silhouette, super high quality materials and interesting design elements. They often take a highly conceptual approach, putting them in a design sense similar to Comme des Garcons, Kolor or Cosmic Wonder, for example.
This is Tuki’s style 0129 pants, a cotton chino in a sort of three dimensional silhouette. Details include metal buttons and rivets throughout, a reinforced rear pocket with rivets and a rear cinch with metal hooks. The fabric is pretty light in weight, making this a good warm weather pair of pants. Silhouette is loose, with a slightly longer rise than usual and a cropped inseam. This particular model is now completely sold out and pretty difficult to track down, especially in this size. Get it here at a fraction of the retail price.
Size is labeled a 4, fitting a 34 inch waist well. I measure the waist at 34” / 86cm, inseam at 24” / 59cm, rise at 13.5” / 35cm and leg opening at 10” / 25cm. The pants come in lightly used, very good shape with no holes, tears or stains. Made in Japan.
Shipping from Japan to anywhere will be $30.
